October 8-12: 10th World Lit

This Week: This week we begin reading Fahrenheit 451. Please make sure to have your copy of the book with you in class EVERYDAY. All reading will be done in class. However, if you are absent, it is your responsibility to keep up with the pages read in class on the day(s) you are out. I will attempt to keep this blog up to date daily.

If you have chosen to read 1984, the reading schedule and guided notes are at the bottom of this blog post. I will collect your books for annotation checks on days listed as reading checks.

Monday, October 8:
  • SAT Practice Questions
  • 1-Pager for "Those Who Walk Away from Omelas" DUE
  • Expectations and Annotations for Reading
  • Begin reading Fahrenheit 451
    • 4th Period: "Why, he thought, now that I think of it, she almost seemed to be waiting for me there, in the street, so damned late at night..." (9)
    • 5th Period: "But she was gone - running in the moonlight. Her front door shut gently." (7)
    • 7th Period: "He hadn't looked for a long time." (7)
