September 9-13: 10th Grade World Lit

This Week: This week, we will continue to analyze archetypes by reading about the battles of Beowulf and the story of Don Quixote. We will also work on Unit 3 Vocab, with a vocab quiz on Friday.

**Please keep track of your reading guides for all the stories we read this unit - they will be due on the day of the test (currently scheduled for Thursday, September 19, but subject to change). If you need an extra, all assignments are linked on this blog and there are a limited supply of extras in the black binder labeled for your class in my room.**

  • Vocab Unit 3: Homework Due
    • Have homework done at the beginning of class. We will grade it at the beginning of the period. The only two assignments I will check are Choosing the Right Word and Completing the Sentence. Make sure you have both of those finished.
  • Finish reading from Beowulf
    • Reading Guide
    • Finish "The Battle with Grendel's Mother"
    • "The Last Battle"
    • "The Spoils"
    • "The Farewell"

  • Unit 3 Vocab Quiz
    • Extra credit: Flash cards for all 20 words - each flash card must include: word, part of speech, definition, and sentence from the book - Due before quiz on Friday.
Next Week:
We will wrap up our unit on Archetypes with a test on Thursday, September 19.

  • Monday, September 30: Have a copy of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury in class.
