Summer Reading Assignments for 2019-2020 School Year

9th Grade Literature & Composition (on-level and team-taught)
  • Scythe by Neal Shusterman (hard copy, not an e-book please)
  • For each of the 40 chapters, you will write a 3-sentence summary + a 2-sentence reflection.
  • Reflection = opinions, predictions, questions, new understanding of something that occurred in that chapter.
  • Chapter Notes can be handwritten or typed.
  • Please bring your book and chapter notes to class on the first day of school.
  • Lord of the Flies by William Golding 
  • Complete the reading guide.
  • Please bring your book and completed reading guide to class on the first day of school.

May 13 - 17: 10th Grade World Lit


This Week: Summer is right around the corner!! This week we will wrap up our unit on Macbeth. You will need a copy of the book everyday in class. As you finish Macbeth, make sure that you are keeping up with your graphic organizer assignment. If you do not finish the assigned reading in class, finish it for homework. Keep up with the schedule posted on this blog.

If you do not have a copy of Macbeth at home, SparkNotes has a "No Fear" translation of the play on their website. The "Modern Text" side of the page is easy-to-understand and is similar to the text in the graphic novel. This is the link to the first scene.
