April 29 - May 3: 10th Grade World Lit

This Week: This week we will begin reading Macbeth. You will need a copy of the book everyday in class. As you are reading Macbeth, make sure that you are keeping up with your graphic organizer assignment. If you do not finish the assigned reading in class, finish it for homework. Keep up with the schedule posted on this blog.

If you do not have a copy of Macbeth at home, SparkNotes has a "No Fear" translation of the play on their website. The "Modern Text" side of the page is easy-to-understand and is similar to the text in the graphic novel. This is the link to the first scene.

I have chosen this graphic novel adaption of the text as it accurately preserves the language of the original play while updating it for a modern audience. Additionally, the layout and images that appear alongside the text in this adaption are helpful for understanding the events that occur throughout the play.

We will begin our unit on Monday, April 29, and each student is required to have their own copy of the book in class that day. For reference, a picture of the cover and the ISBN of this exact edition are below.
