February 25 - March 1: 10th World Lit

This Week: Welcome back! This week you will set your schedule for reading your novel of choice and begin reading and working on your summaries and commentaries for each chapter of your book. You will turn in your summaries and commentaries in a folder on Monday, March 18 at the beginning of class. You will be responsible for setting a reading schedule for yourself and following it. Remember to bring your novel to class every day.

However, if you would like to write in your copy or have one for home, please make sure you have the correct version.

              10th Grade: IMPORTANT LINKS

              World Mythology Project

              Fill out this form with your partner, by 8:30 AM on Monday, February, 11 to choose your myth. If you have not filled out this form by that time, I will randomly assign a myth to your group.


              Assignment Instructions
              *due Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the end of class*
              Presentations will be Thursday, Feb. 14 and Friday, Feb. 15.

              Your group may bring a food related to your myth on the day of your presentation for 5 points extra credit.

              Independent Novel Unit

              Choose ONE: Life of PiA Thousand Splendid Suns, or Things Fall Apart to read during the Independent Novel Unit (We will begin this unit when we come back from February Break.) and fill out the following form by Wednesday, February 13:




              If you plan to read Things Fall Apart, you may borrow a Lassiter copy of the book. If you would like to read Life of Pi or A Thousand Splendid Suns, make sure you have a copy of your chosen book with you in class on Monday, February 25 or else you will be given a copy of Things Fall Apart to read. You do not need to read your book over February Break.

              This Week: We will wrap up our unit on A Doll House with an essay due Monday. A version of A Doll House can be found here; however, while the plot and characters are the same, this is not the translation of the play that is in our textbook. When writing your essay, you will need to make sure that your quotes and page citations come from the textbook translation of the play.
